>> The number 12 machine of Jake Weimer came to Salt Lake City in search of a finish within the top ten. After an eleventh place result in Seattle, the California native knew he had what it took to get within the prestigious top ten. The Autotrader/JGR/Suzuki rider started his evening in Utah with a bit of a rough start with a tenth place finish in the stacked second heat race of the evening. Weimer had some redeeming to do in the Semi if he wanted to line up for the Main Event. The Semi was full
of excitement as Weimer took an early lead on Holeshot Master, Vince Friese. Quickly, it was Millsaps on the tail of Weimer. The white flag goes out as an injured Millsaps passes Jake Weimer for the lead and Weimer then finishes in second place. After a good fight and a second place finish in the Semi, Jake Weimer had to have had some confidence lin- ing up for the Main Event. Unfortunately, Weimer was not able to grab, a very crucial to the race, start. He found himself buried in the back of the pack early on and around the 11-minute plus 1 lap mark, he was sitting in fifteenth. Jake Weimer was in fifteenth for a while until Malcolm Stewart ran into some misfortune, moving Weimer into fourteenth place where
he would finish the moto. Fourteenth place is a good ride for Weimer, but definitely not the great results that he is capable of/looking for. Hopefully he can prove himself as a top ten contender next weekend.
