>> 2017 has been a big year for Ryan Surratt. Originally his plans for 2017 was to compete in the first few West Supercross rounds with the Bud Rac-
ing Kawasaki team and then compete in the EMX250 class in Europe for the rest of the year. The contract was signed and all of a sudden the two parted ways and Ryan was left without a ride. Surratt put his own program together to salvage the year. He found support from NutUp/ C4MX and Kawasaki of Modesto to compete in the rest of the 250 West Coast series. The last week has been big for Surratt as he competed in the World Two Stroke Champion- ship at Glen Helen aboard a CR250 that he purchased from Craigslist. Ryan has an act for riding a two stroke and it showed at Glen Helen when he was able to come away with the title. Just before round 8 of the West Coast series Ryan was able to secure his plans for the outdoor season also. He will race the first few AMA Outdoor Nationals and then head north of the border to Can- ada to compete in the CMRC Series in the MX2 division. He will ride for his current sponsors but will pit next to Canada’s factory Kawasaki team. With his plans for the summer already dialed in Surratt only has to focus on his train- ing to prepare for the season. Ryan made his 6th consecutive main event of the year this weekend in Salt Lake City and had his second best finish of his professional career. In Ryans heat race he started well outside of a qualifying position but managed to keep himself out of the LCQ with an 8th. The #338 of Surratt had a bad first lap and was in 18th after the opening laps. It took a bit for the rookie to regroup, he eventually was able to start picking riders off after the first five minutes and worked his way all the way to 14th.
