>> The high pitched ringing of 50s filled the crisp stadium air as the youngest riders at Motofest were set to take the track. There was a small crash on the start straight away, but there were no problems at all for the #211 of Cain Holcomb. He grabbed the early lead as the field exited the first corner and immediately put his head down as he sped away from the pack with the Cobra machine of Colton Derico in tow. The #88 machine of Derico was able to close the gap on the lead throughout the course of the opening lap, subsequently lining up a pass heading into the catapult jump. He stuck to the far inside line and squared up Holcomb as the two riders crested the finish line bar-to-bar. The Florida native of Derico put his head down and rode with the experience and intensity of someone twice his age, as he was the only rider clearing some of the massive double jumps. Holcomb held firm in second place, but he wasn’t able to stick with his fellow Cobra rider. The #88 was on another level as he looked right at home on the SX track, eventually pulling a gap of almost two full sections on his competition. The Floridian showed some impressive indoor skills on an incredibly challenging track for the little guys, taking advantage of a solid start and a quick pass for the lead to take the main event win.
