The second moto would only be rougher both on the bike and the body, but it was apparent after his per- formance in the first moto that he could salvage some major points for the championship. Cooper Webb did exactly that and put in the ride of a champion after starting at a huge disadvantage down around the
bottom end of the top 20. He crossed the finish line in 14th place on lap 1 and was able to move up 4 positions in just 2 laps. Webb was practically matching the lap times of the leaders as he worked his way through the field, tailing the flying Husqvarna of Zach Osborne who was riding like a man possessed. He rode an incredibly mature and reserved race once everything settled down, taking advantage of crashes by Jeremy Martin and Jordon Smith to move up a couple places. As Forkner faded back from the front due to fitness issues, Webb laid down his fastest lap of the race and blew past the rookie. He was able to take advantage of another rider falling back from the front of the pack as he worked his way past Jessy Nelson on the penultimate lap and took a 5th place finish to end the day 3rd overall. Supposedly, Webb has only ridden a couple of times in the past 5 weeks due to his injured wrist - if that’s the case, the competition should be worried about what’s going to happen down the stretch of the season.
