RJ’s day started off pretty quiet in northern California. He put in a top 15 lap time early in practice and was ready to get the season started. In 250 Moto 1, RJ got off to a great jump and was running inside the top 5 early. RJ started to put pressure on the champ, Jeremy Martin on the first lap and was proving he deserves to be battling with the front-runners. RJ held strong for the entire moto and would go on to finish where he started with a very com-
mendable 5th place. In the second moto, Hampshire got a decent start and found himself battling to get into the top ten. With only a few laps under his belt, Hampshire caught one of the Hangtown ruts and started swapping going down one of the fast straightaways. Hampshire was thrown into the California dirt and his bike followed, coming to stop directly on top of RJ. Finally after what seemed like minutes, a Geico Honda worker came to the rescue and lifted the bike off of him. Unfor- tunately, his day in NorCal was done. Hopefully we will see him back in action next weekend.
