Josh Grant had the first race he needed to showcase his talent to the Monster Energy Kawasaki crew. Starting off moto 1, Josh Grant was well within the top ten off the gate. He quickly moved his green machine into seventh just five minutes in. He rode most of the moto in that position, but Bagget closed in and made
the pass. Now Grant was in eighth place and riding comfortably. As the race wore on the track got rough and Grant slowly fell back to tenth. But he wasn’t done, there was still fifteen minutes left of the race, plenty of time to make a comeback. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider made his way back into eighth place. He finished moto 1 with an eighth overall. The next moto was an even stronger ride for Grant getting a smooth start right into the mix of the top five. On the first lap he was sitting in fourth place, right outside the podium. Anderson quickly made a pass on him pushing him back to fifth place. He began to fade as the race progressed and
fell back into eighth place. Only five minutes were left of the race and Musquin had caught up to him, putting the pressure on strong. Musquin took away Grant’s line, leaving him no choice but to check up losing another position. He finished the race with an eighth overall due to a rider falling back. His overall finish for round 1 of the Pro Motocross was ninth a great start to the season.
