>> Killian Auberson has been having a great year here in 2017. The
rider hailing from Switzerland has made every main event so far after only making three in his entire career leading into the season. He seems to have found his groove on his KTM machine and it is paying off. He began his day by conquering the roughest stadium track in recent years by nailing the seventeenth fastest lap time. He looked fresh and full of confidence which is something he has not had too often during his tenure in the United States.
That swagger he had going for him translated into a fifth place start in his heat race. He quickly fell back to eighth place after a few laps and
it looked like he might slip out of a transfer but he dug in and held his ground to secure the position and his advancement onto the main event for the fifth time in five tries this season.
Auberson suffered from a much worse start in the main event than he had in the heat race. He emerged from the carnage of lap one deep
in sixteenth place. The track was grueling and just tempting riders into making mistakes but Auberson rode a smooth and steady race dodging adversity on his way towards the front of the field. As riders were getting beat up by the track, Auberson held strong and consistently logged in good laps en route to a career best thirteenth best finish. It was not only his career best; it was his first career top fifteen and on the toughest track he has probably ever raced on at that. Auberson will look to continue his dream season next weekend in Dallas.
