CHASE SEXTON
Canard, Wharton, Bogle, Bell, Hampshire, are a few names that have come
through the farm system of Geico Honda. It’s a formula that’s become all too familiar throughout the amateur motocross ranks, and a procedure that seems to pay dividends in the grooming of young sensations. The crew now plans to add Chase Sexton to that list, in hopes of receiving a blossomed Supercross star in the near future.
The picture that’s painted when viewing the amateur career of Sexton in recent years creates a striking resemblance to that of Ryan Villopoto. As you may remember, Villopoto (Present day Sexton) was extraordinarily fast in his own right, but always seemed to lurk in the shadow of Mike Alessi (Austin Forkner-esque domination). In no way am I saying Forkner and Mike Alessi are the same person, it’s just their patterns of speed and winning at the amateur level are similar. But as we all know, after a few believe the hype t-shirts and bullseyes on the back, the career of RV2 didn’t turn out so bad after all.
