BRANDON YATES
Brandon Yates is still getting his feet wet in the ultra competitive world of amateur motocross. The teenage C rider from Kansas has been riding dirtbikes since the age of
four but he did not start racing until
2012. Some may say that beginning to race later than most kids will put him behind the eight ball but it could very well be a good thing because he won’t be burnt out. Over the years we have seen several very good up and coming kids leave the sport because they had been groomed from a very young age and they just
get tired off it. Yates won’t have that problem and he can use his freshness to his advantage. He has proved that he is serious about the sport and open to learning when he began training with old-timer Trampas Parker last summer. Picking up
on good techniques and styles can be critical when developing as a rider. Some of the things he does off the track as well can also help him on the track. Yates is
a very good cross country runner and has made it to the state championships every year he has been in high school. That feat alone is just as impressive as winning a title. Being a great runner will certainly help
his endurance late in motos especially during the heat of summer. Yates’ motocross career is still in its early stages, but if he can put together all the pieces, we could be seeing his name at the top in the coming years.
