>> The ball has begun rolling for the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Joey Savatgy, after taking the overall last weekend he had the confidence to dominate again this weekend at Washougal. Fired up for qualifying, Savatgy was laying down some impressive lap times heading into the motos as the second fastest rider. Lined up and ready to go for moto one, the Florida native was well prepared to shred on
the slick Washington track. Getting a decent jump out of the gate the Kawasaki rider was sitting back around 7th leaving him with a lot of work to do to get up to the front. He moved up to 6th quickly, where he rode comfortably for several laps. Almost half way through the moto he made a mistake that caused him to fall back to 10th. Sitting outside of the top ten, Savatgy wasn’t pleased and began pushing harder to work his way up to the front. After getting comfortable again, Savatgy began his ascent pass- ing a rider each lap until he made his way up to 7th. With only a few laps left in the moto, he worked hard to reel in RJ Hampshire in front of him but was unable to finish- ing 7th in moto one. A little disappointed with his moto one ride, the Kawasaki rider was revved up for moto two. Putting the power to the ground the second the gate dropped, Savatgy was out front and not looking back. Grabbing the holeshot and then pulling away, the number 17 was looking right at home on the tricky Washington track. Working on racing his own race and leaving the chaos behind him, Savatgy was trying to gain as much of a lead as he could early on in the moto, but RJ Hamp- shire wasn’t making that easy for him. Battling it out until lap four, Savatgy fell back to 2nd after Hampshire made the pass in a turn. Not giving up the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider stayed focused, keeping close to the rider in front of him. In just a few laps he was able to get the pass back and pull away with the lead, finishing off the second moto in 1st. Going 7-1 for the day he grabbed himself the overall win gaining a few more points in the championship chase.
