>> At this point of the series, many are beginning to dwindle and fall off, as this is a championship of true attrition. Not only do the competitors take a pounding each weekend, but it’s the work and effort during the week that racers mustn’t have any lapse of focus, otherwise their series can be deterred in a heartbeat. Benny Bloss survived until this point, regrouping after injury, knowing that the true checkered flag of the series was just around the corner, and he had the willingness to make a final push. He was pleased with the track during practice, he and his entourage assessing what had gone down, and creating a chalk- board type memo of plans, that he planned to cast across the field. As the gate fell for moto one, the pack would swarm, and he would fight with both bayonet and shield. Each corner was a battle of its own, bouncing as a pinball from left to right, but having no luck of doing serious propulsion forward; he was 39th on the opening green flag. The competition was just too stiff, but he was doing all he could to stay afloat as the laps would begin to be clicked. Finally, as the moto was winding down, battling with the likes of Tyler Bowers, the long legs of his frame were being energy absorption for the beating he was taking. It seemed
as though the bigger the whoop, the more he could excel; at times, blitzing at some of the fastest rates of the entire back. It was the little things that salvaged the moto, in times of damage; he would come away with 17th. Moto two couldn’t have started any worse than the first go-around, therefore Bloss knew he had the speed to do some damage. This time, he nearly cut the deficit in half, only starting in 21st. Imagine the work he could do with a holeshot...; neverthe-
less, he had to live with the present circumstances. The shadows acting as if
a giant curtain had been draped across the Washington landscape, the tent of his goggles were changing as fast as holographic pyramid. He knew he had to truly focus; and that memo was checked, pushing forward ahead of the likes of Dakota Alix, and Henry Miller by moto’s end. Taking 11th, he knew he could do better, but was just happy to make it off the track on two feet. Here’s to the next round.
