TOMMY WEECK
450 MX / 15TH
IMAGE / LANNAN WORDS / MATTINGLY DESIGN / TILLS
>> It seems as though it were just yesterday, that Tommy Weeck was climb- ing through the amateur ranks, earnestly making a name for himself with each passing week. And with Loretta Lynn’s around the corner, his thoughts are causing a reminiscence of his youth, as he can truly feel deep within his soul, the attitude that got him to this level. He wanted to channel it from the moment he stepped foot on the grounds of Washougal, and that he did. A solid effort
in practice, was coupled with an adequate reaction time of the gate drop for moto number one. Bouncing from side to side in the rhythm rockers, he had no choice but to keep the 450 pinned, otherwise both he and the side panel would be slammed into mother earth; it would be rewarded with a twentieth on the opening lap. Pushing the suspension through the plushest of strokes, he would enrage the inner adrenaline burst, and propel forward as the laps would move on. Leaping an insurmountable sixth positions on lap two, it looked as
if the Tommy Weeck of old was coming to play; the kid we all know from his KTM assault on the amateur tour. Battling with the likes of Freddie Noren, and Tyler Bowers, his stamina would begin to dwindle a tad but not much, taking 15th at the stripe. The start for the second endeavor was much better, creep- ing just outside the top ten, in eleventh. Latching onto Dakota Alix and Henry Miller as began both he and time began to fade, he had a constant reminder from the crowd of whom they were truly cheering for. Knowing the track like the back of his hand, you best believe the usual smile of Mr.Weeck was gleaming below his helmet. Launching the anthill in the middle to the fullest extent, his style full of body English and aggression, he was doing everything possible to propel into another position. And although fatigued, it would boost him just enough, to show Justin Hoeft a wheel or two on the last lap. But the hometown hero would have to settle for a 15th, taking 15th overall.
