amount of pressure however, but Cooper displayed maturity, claiming the win and breaking a little sweat, pumped for the big stage that was to come.
Not known to be a great starter, Cooper intended to put on a show for the crowd and begin the race in seventh position. The champ began to slice and dice his way through the competition, residing in fourth as they took the green flag. Cooper rampantly moved into second, going for Jordon Smith’s front tire as they landed the finish line on lap three. With sights set on the leader, Joey Savatgy, Coop was ready to rinse that fire engine red off the Pro Circuit riders background once in for all. He began to stalk number 37, pressuring him around every inch of the course, but a lapse in focus would cause a washout in the first corner on lap seven. Remounting in fifth, he worked his way into podium contention by lap nine.
Webb spotted a weakness in Christian Craig, and took advantage, moving into second posi- tion. Although Savatgy seemed within reach, Cooper couldn’t compromise the gap; and in result, took
second place on the evening, losing the points lead. GRITMOTO • FEBRUARY.15.16
