He won the 2006 AMA Superbike Rookie of the Year when the series was in its heyday of heavy competition and he went on to take the title in the AMA Supersport division the following year. In addition to his continual involvement with the domestic series in the United States, Hayden contested a full series in the World Superbike paddock as a part of the Pedercini Kawasaki team in 2010 and competed as a wild-card contestant in both
MotoGP and Moto2 on multiple occasions.
