Kaed Kniffing has had a transitional year since joining the Rides Unlimited KTM team at the beginning of the season. The Californian spent the first couple of months of 2017 jumping back and forth between the Supermini and the Schoolboy classes, finally shifting his focus to the bigger bike for the Road to Loretta’s. He was able to find some success in the Schoolboy 1 class in his home state at the California Classic, securing a second place overall finish as his highlight of the weekend. A gnarly crash forced him out of Mammoth early, but he was healed up in time to race Loretta Lynn’s where he showed top five speed on multiple occasions throughout the week. Kniffing is looking to make the step back onto the podium in his first trip to Baja Acres, but the unique terrain will present him with an un- foreseen challenge. The Californian took some time to find his feet and adapt to the track as his best results came later in the weekend. His first moto of the weekend came in the Schoolboy 1 class and the KTM rider found himself battling for a spot inside the top five on the opening lap. Unfortunately, a fourth gear crash put him on the ground on the first flying lap and it took him a fair amount of time to restart
