GAGE DUNHAM
Gage Dunham is always easy to spot on the racetrack due to his signature mohawk fitted helmet, which can be regularly spotted at the front of the field in the 51cc class. The Colorado native started the 2017 season off with a couple of solid performances throughout spring nats, wrapping up a na- tional championship at the Daytona RCSX as well as multiple podium finishes at the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship. Dunham carried his solid run of form into the biggest race of the season at the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship, putting together two second place moto finishes
as well as a tenth to earn himself fourth overall at the end of the weekend. Although he put forth a solid effort at the Ranch and fin- ished among the top five riders in the country as a part of his respec- tive class, it still left him hungry for more. The youngster out of Colora- do was able to regain consistency at the 2017 Baja Brawl, finishing on the podium in five out of six motos with three moto victories to boot.
In the 51cc (4-6) Limited class, he put together a third place finish, a fifth place finish, and a first place finish for second overall. Dunham was fighting for the overall in the final moto of the weekend, but a small mistake dropped him back
to fifth place with only one lap left in the moto to recover. The seven year old established himself as
one of the fastest riders in the 51cc (4-8) Special Limited class in the very first moto, winning the race in dominant fashion after securing the holeshot ahead of Carter Clay. The Florida native struck back in the second moto, setting up a titanic duel for the overall in the third and final moto of the weekend. Dun- ham left nothing to the unknown as he shot out of the gate in the final moto to an uncontested holeshot, running away with the moto victory ahead of Clay in second place as he marched onward to the cham- pionship.
