74 GRITMOTO • AUGUST.22.16
RJ HAMPSHIRE
Trading in the ball and glove for a throttle and boots, is a story we don’t often see in our realm of motocross.
With our sport being rather unorthodox, the competitors have to differentiate them- selves so much from “normal” society and athletics, that many other usual skills (i.e. basketball, baseball, etc.) are often lost and never found.
That’s what makes the case of RJ Hampshire so rare, as he was an above average student-athlete, who transi- tioned into the professional ranks of moto.
He had a path set out once he obtained a vision, and he’s stuck with it. Geico Honda see’s the vision as well, and after re-signing the prospect, hopes to be a staple in the success of the Floridian as he continues to grow.
