>> As a favorite coming into the Pro Motocross series, Jason Anderson was more than ready to get the series going. After some very impressive finishes in Super- cross, topped off with a win in Vegas, Jason had some extra confidence as he took to the rutted Hangtown track on Saturday. His speed was spectacular as he put his Husqvarna motorcycle through the ringer navigating the rough and tough track. He ended up falling just short of the pole, putting in an impressive 2nd fastest time go- ing into the motos. When the gate dropped for the first moto of the season, Jason jumped off the line but was pinched off quickly. Luckily, he was close to the inside and was able to hold tight around the first turn. He came out near the 10th position and was looking good but not for long. Disaster then struck the Husqvarna rider as he was forced wide and took a dive off the track. In a hurry to remount, Jason quickly discovered his goggles filling up with blood as a rock got the best of the area under his eyebrow during the incident. With that much blood leaking out of his face, Jason was forced to withdrawal and head to the medical semi. Jason was given stitches and where most people would call it a day, he got cleaned up and was determined
to score some points for the second moto. He was given 39th gate pick when it was time to line up for the final moto of the day and he had no choice but to go far on the outside. When the gate dropped, Jason shot out like a rocket. He held the throttle to the stop and was hanging off the back of the bike, forcing the Husqvarna to grip. He did everything he could to pull out a miracle but was forced to go wide and settle for a mid pack start. Jason’s determination was palpable as he began to slice and dice his way through the pack. By the time they saw the green flag, Jason was inside the top 15 and still moving forward. By lap 5 he had made the move on teammate Davalos and was putting down a blistering pace. Over the next few laps, Jason continued to make passes. By the time the white flag waved, he was sitting in an impressive 7th place but still was not finished. A last lap charge would give him what he needed to take over 6th spot at the last second over Tickle. Jason’s 6th place finish in moto two was good enough for 13th place overall at Hangtown.
