>> The first round at Hangtown was seventeen-year-old Michael Mosiman pro- fessional debut on the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team. After riding for Rock- star Energy Husqvarna’s amateur team, Mosiman looked comfortable as he lined up for the first 250 race of the outdoor season. With nervous energy and some extreme heat radiating down upon riders from the West Coast sunshine, Michael Mosiman had to have felt excited as he sat behind the metal gate. The thirty-second card went up and Mosiman was off to an impressive start! The number 342 machine sat in fifteenth place on lap one. By lap two, Michael Mosi- man fell back to twenty-sixth place and he now had two simple options: to ride or to race. Thankfully for this Husqvarna rider, he made his own luck and chose the latter. Mosiman quickly found himself in seventeenth place halfway through the moto, but he was not done yet. Michael persevered as he sliced and diced his way to twelfth place by the end of the first moto. Michael Mosiman was able to gain thirteen spots in thirty minutes, an incredible first moto for this rookie. Going into the second moto, Michael Mosiman was definitely one to watch after proving himself someone that could easily break into the top ten if the stars all aligned right. With the track terrain deteriorating and temperatures rising into
the high nineties, the mental and physical strength of all the riders was being tested. Even with the grueling elements, the Husqvarna rider was off to a great start and Mosiman found himself in twelfth place early in the second moto. With seasoned competition surrounding him, this Sebastopol, California native continuously impressed us all as he flew past the checkered flag in fourteenth place. With a 12-14 under his belt, Michael Mosiman was leaving Hangtown with a fourteenth place overall. I hope to see the number 342 within the top ten at round two, because he has proved that he is more than capable of some strong finishes.
