>> Atlanta, Georgia is known as a hotbed of talent in today’s rap, hip-hop industry. Characterized in the past as a smooth, southern style sound (i.e. Outkast), the city has been through eras of waves since the “Ms.Jackson” group came to fame. It transitioned from the Ying Yang Twins, to the trap sound, and now a whole new array of diversity, taking to the genre to levels and places many couldn’t have ever imagined. In order for something to elevate, you have to will be willing to explore and take risks; do things that are outside of the norm, and be forced to push boundaries. Jordon Smith has the traits of a pioneer who’s willing to launch, bonsai, or skim any obstacle in his specific path
in order to be on his way to glory. Atlanta provided another opportunity for his skillset to be displayed, an open audition to try and dethrone the king, and solidify himself on the box. With a field as stacked as ever, energy levels will be drained, and his lactate threshold reached numerous times. A captivating reaction time out of the pad propelled him into the lead for the first go around; the orange stream casting a pumpkin-esque spray across the field behind him. He was leading for yet another event, his tempera- ment at ease, but with his past raring its head, we all know that he’s one moment
away from a slight mistake (despite tremendous speed, never lack of effort). He was overtaken by Osborne near the ten minute mark, but still sitting solid in second. With the wrath of his teammate coming nearer and nearer, the back end of the number 44 dancing wildly, it was all he could to hang on. But he would manage, and let the num- ber 26 around in the meantime. However the fight wasn’t out of him, so much so that he would remount and fight the number 26 to the bitter end, and unfortunately would be pushed to the concrete. Falling off the podium, he would remount to fifth, bummed and disgusted, but living to ride another day.
