>> Walking into the raceway for the rst time, many racers feel of sense of nervousness. It’s human nature, as they await the unknown, not for certain of what the rest of the day will bring. And while many hide within this fear, letting it get the best of them, there are those who rise
to the occasion, and embody the sense of adrenaline the anxiousness brings. Weston Peick is the latter, as he’s been through this ritual for numerous years. Developing a routine and pattern of readiness, he’s a creature of habit, and attacks the race-day with an enormous amount of integrity, from the time he wakes up. Practice was seen as a place of calculation and scoping, where he would piece together portions of the track, and look at the completed puzzle in sight of his laptimes at the end. A masterpiece, so to speak, had him gleaming with pride once exiting the raceway, excited for the moto’s to begin. Sprinting the rst lap of the opening moto, he sat third, and looked to pull from those behind him. Moving with the tailwind behind, he seemed to ascend as the laps kept rolling forward on the counter. Encountering
a tough outing with Blake Baggett, the two daredevils seemed to play a game of risk taking, seeing who could push the envelope further. And although an honest effort would be made Baggett would make his way around; though he wouldn’t ever shut the engine off down the likes of these hills, and still manage to hit the rutted clay grooves with precision. He wasn’t ghting the bike, rather gripping the tank with his legs, and letting his arms come along for
the ride. He remained pump free until the end, settling on a sixth place nish. Moto number two was here, and his tread would be etched into the soil from the moment the gate dropped. Rejuvenated and full of steam, he pressured Benny Bloss who sat ahead. Searching high and low, all throughout the crevices and outskirts of this raceway, a path of ef ciency would be cast throughout his vision. He would hit it, in constant pursuit of perfection, just as a marks- man does with his targets. Shooting off rounds of ammunition in the direction of Roczen, he would eventually land a few directly on track, and sustain the position of fth place. The nal few laps saw his will be tested, as the track would begin to really roughen up, and crust over. Both mind and body began to fatigue, but he remained steadfast, even while being passed by Blake Baggett. A sixth place for the moto would be cumulated for sixth overall, satis ed with his efforts in the Tennessee heat.
