Ashton Hayes competed in a stacked Open Pro Sport class and the 250 A class at High Point, finishing 2nd overall in both classes over the weekend. He steadily improved in the Open Pro Sport class throughout the weekend, never missing out on the podium in any of his motos. In the 1st moto, he slotted into 3rd place behind overall winner Egan Mastin and Jake Impens. In the 2nd moto, he pulled a killer start alongside
Mastin and the two of them pulled a little gap on the field. The 3rd moto was an absolute mudfest and Hayes seemed to be the most comfortable rider in the mud, keeping his Seven MX gear clean and riding to the checkered flag untouched. Hayes struggled in the first moto of the 250 class with a mediocre start, he made a mistake late in the race and gave it too much gas coming out of a corner, sliding out in the process; he ended up 5th. Hayes improved in the 2nd moto with a 4th place finish and continued his domination in the muck to comfortably win the last moto over Timmy Crosby. The Suzuki factory rider is on his way back to Loretta’s for the first time since his nasty injury in 2015 kept him out of contention for the National Championship.
