Team Green’s Joey Crown is arguably one of the most decorated amateur riders in the A class this year, boasting 3 Loretta Lynn’s National Championships; he won the 250 B Limited class last year at The Ranch and took home the title in both Mini Sr. 12 - 14 classes in 2013. All in all, he’s won 26 national titles between the United States and Canada, he even raced an MX2 race in the CMRC Nationals last year at Walton and placed 2nd overall. He’s no stranger to racing on a big stage as he’s been competing in the Monster Energy
Cup since it’s inception in 2012, although he’s failed to crack the podium at the event. Crown has had a successful 2016 thus far which started with his professional debut in AMA sanctioned events in the Arenacross series, also known now as the ‘Ricky Carmichael Road to Supercross’. He managed to gain the points necessary to compete in SX and he showed decent speed in the process, but his results left him wanting more. Crown had 11th place finishes on 3 separate occasions, narrowly missing out on breaking into the top 10. A lack of talent indoors is definitely not the issue though, he went 1-1 at the inaugural Junior Moto-X in Oklahoma in the Pro Sport class as well as the 250 A class. He’s been on a bit of a streak coming into the regional at High Point on the road to Loretta’s, Crown has won 4 overalls in the last two area qualifiers that he has raced; notably taking the victory in Open Pro Sport, 250 A, and 250 All-Star A/B at the area qualifier at Sleepy Hollow MX in Fredericksburg, PA. He’ll be looking to carry that momentum into the upcoming regional on the other side of the state and send a message to his rivals going into the break before Loretta’s.
