It’s the last lap of the last moto of the last race of the weekend at the Midwest Regional Qualifier that took place on the Hangtown track at Prairie City SVRA – and things were just starting to heat up for some competitors. Brandon Ray, or B.Ray as he’s known locally across Northern California, was one
of those riders. It was a bar-to-bar battle royal between the #19 of Ray and the #79 of Jett Reynolds
for all five laps of the 2nd 85cc (9-12) moto. The cat and mouse game that ensued put Reynolds on
top – no wait, B.Ray... Reynolds... Ray. As the white flag flew, the racing action grew more intense as we all watched it come down to the very last lap. B.Ray had one final pass up his sleeve as he flew past Reynolds in the last turn to grab the checkers and his first moto win of the weekend. After two 5th place finishes overall in the Mini Sr. 1 and Mini Sr. 2 classes, this last moto victory was a long time coming. It was also the defining factor in B.Ray earning his ticket to “The Ranch”.
