JALEK SWOLL
Jalek Swoll fulfilled the typical amateur motocross racer’s dream in 2016, winning the number one plate in both of his classes at the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Champion- ship. He wasn’t able to back it up last year as he encountered an array of misfortune on the track, mechanical issues with his motorcycle, and so forth. The Floridian will be hungry to
get back on the top step at the Ranch this year in order to collect the fourth Amateur National Championship of his career, but he’ll be up against one of the most stacked B classes in recent memory. It was hard to predict where the Rockstar Husqvarna rider’s fitness level and speed would be at the beginning of the year, following a gnarly injury to end the 2017 season at the Thor Winter Olympics -- but he came out of the starting blocks in a hurry with
a first and second place overall at the Daytona RCSX. Swoll continued his winning ways at the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship and took the number one plate in the heavily competitive Schoolboy 2 (12-17) division, setting him up for a successful run at the remainder of the sea- son. The Floridian performed well on home soil at the Southeast Regional at WW Motocross Ranch, finding the podium in both Schoolboy
2 and 250 B, preparing him for a successful run at his fourth Loretta Lynn’s AMA National Championship.
JESSE FLOCK
Jesse Flock had a heartbreaking trip to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch at the end of the 2017 racing season; it started when the Oklahoma na-
tive pulled one of the last gate picks and was forced to start from the very outside, placing him at a disadvantage in the opening School- boy 1 moto. He was scything his way through the field and ended up making a mistake on the tunnel jump at the start of the second
lap, crashing out of the race while sustaining
a broken collarbone. His 2017 Loretta Lynn Amateur National campaign came screeching to a halt just like that. Flock’s determination
to do well at the Ranch this year is more than evident in his results at the respective qualify- ing races -- finishing in first place in all eleven separate classes that he raced at his Area and Regional Qualifiers. The Kawasaki rider has yet to land on the podium at the Ranch, but it seems that this will be the year the he finally breaks into the upper echelon of results at the legendary event. In addition to his success on the road to Loretta’s, the Fox Racing backed rider was all over the podium throughout the various spring events. Although 250 B and Schoolboy 2 are some of the most heavily competitive classes throughout the entire week of racing, Flock’s going to be one of the favorites to come out on top when the gate drops.
