>> While Zac has spent most of his career aboard a Kawasaki, we’ve seen him turn professional on a KTM. It may or may not have been what he wanted but he took the chance/ opportunity. A year has past and we see the young rider back aboard a green machine and he proved to be very fast at times on familiar equipment. The #203 pri- vateer started out the night program in a good spot grabbing a top 5 holeshot in his heat race. Zac was pushed back a few spots by Reardon and Taft on lap one but held on tough for 7th for almost the whole race. Unfortunately the last lap jitters got a hold of Commans and he was forced to the last chance qualifier. On the outside looking in to a transfer spot Zac did what he had to do by optimizing on other riders mistakes to get himself into the top 4, and was holding onto the final ticket to
the main event. Zac has never been one to settle in and even tried to make a few moves on 3rd place rider Jon Ames. Jon was able to hold off the #203 and Zac quickly became under fire from McConahy and Champion for the final spot. The young Kawasaki rider rode smart and secured his position in the main event. @zaccommans showed multiple riders that he knows how to ride with intensity after a near last posi- tion start forced him to play catch up. At the end of lap one Commans passed a total of 8 riders and was just outside of the top 10. Making
his moves Zac got himself into the top 10, but with just over 9 minutes remaining things started to unravel and he dropped back to 16th just as fast as he got himself in to tenth. When you think that the privateer has had enough bad luck he received some more by the end of the race by dropping to 18th by the checkered flag. It is unknown as of right now if Commans had bike issues or just ran out of energy but you can bet that round 2 will be a different story.
