>> The three month off season is the worst time of the year for mo- tocross and supercross fans. Life without dirt bike racing is a world none of us want to live in and although there are some off season races...they just don’t cut it. This downtime of course leads to rumors and off season discussions of who is looking fast and everyone’s ex- pert opinion on who is going to be the next champion. Geico Honda’s Jeremy Martin was the topic of many conversations as he was a Star Racing Yamaha rider his entire professional career and now switched to Geico Honda for the 2017 season. In addition to the color change, Martin was supposed to race the 250 east coast series but due to some injuries on the team and the fact that Jeremy was riding very well at the practice track, him and his team decided to sign up in the west coast series. One of the most anticipated riders for this 250 west coast series, Jeremy Martin left Anaheim one with unexpected results. Starting the night off great with a holeshot in heat race num- ber two, everything looked great for the #6 Honda rider. As the race went on it looked as though Jeremy was not agreeing with his motor- cycle and was eventually ran down and passed by Troy Lee Designs Shane Mcelrath. Hoping to turn things around for the Main Event, Martin did not get his Geico Honda machine out of the gate like he did in the heat race and was in the thick of the 250 first turn chaos. Start- ing the race towards the back of the pack, Jeremy had his work cut out for him if he wanted to land on the podium. Using his fitness to his advantage, J.Mart worked his way back to a respectable 6th place finish. Geico Honda’s title contender leaves the first round of the 250 West Coast SX series outside of the top five in points.
