Beach was able to turn things around past the midway point of the series as he caught fire in the final rounds, winning the last seven races of the season in dominant fashion on his way
to second place in the title chase. He wasn’t satisfied with the runner-up position and he’s looking to carry his momentum from the end of the 2016 season into the new year. Beach experienced a minor setback during off-season training when he broke his leg in October, but he endured the proper rehabilitation process in order to come into the 2017 season ready to rock and roll.
Beach was on the pace from the opening day of practice in Texas as he turned lap times that positioned him in third place in both practice and qualifying.
“Comin’ into this year I was really scared -- I broke my leg last October and that’s the first thing I’ve ever broke before. It was a lot for me to overcome.”
He was able to put himself in a solid position on the front row of the grid by clocking an incredibly impressive 2:12.977, setting the stage for an exceptional race. The Monster Energy/Yamalube/YES/Graves/Yamaha rider did exactly what he needed to do in the first Supersport race of the season as he rocketed off the grid with a blinding fast reaction time, but he was forced to concede the inside line to the M4 ECSTAR Suzuki of Valentin Debise. The two of them swapped positions back and forth on the opening lap, but Beach was eventually able to secure the position. Shortly thereafter, the red flag came out for an unrelated incident that left fluid on the racing line and it was back to the starting grid to do it all over again. The race distance was shortened to eight laps and Beach was able to to replicate his impeccable start as he shot out to an early lead.
