he managed to grab second overall in a highly competitive class. He returned to winning ways in the CCS Championship at the beginning of the new year in preparation for the start of the MotoAmerica season. Silva impressed at the preseason Dunlop tire test at Circuit of the Americas during his first time at the track, finishing seventh overall and second in the Superstock 600 class, filling him with optimism and confidence heading into his first race as a MotoAmerica competitor where he has decided to race select rounds of the series aboard an ART Performance YZF-R6.
Silva returned to Circuit of the Americas with a bundle of confidence after the successful laps that he put in during the preseason test. Unfortunately, the Floridian had an issue with his transponder on Thursday and he only managed to clock three official laps, but he still scored a lap time within the top ten overall. He picked up the pace in qualifying as he improved his personal best time by more than two seconds, placing him in eighth place
THE BATTLE WITHIN
on the grid as the second fastest Superstock 600 rider. When the lights went out, Silva maintained his qualifying position as the pack ascended into the opening corner as he battled within the top ten. He was one of only two riders on a Superstock 600 machine to drop his lap times under the 2:18 second mark, expanding his confidence heading into the remainder of the season. The sixteen year old was incredibly stoked on his result in his first race in the MotoAmerica series and he’ll undoubtedly make improvements throughout the year in the races that he decides to enter.
LLucas Silva is a new addition to the MotoAmerica paddock for the 2017 season. The Floridian is the youngest of the trio of Silva brothers at the ripe age of sixteen years old. He’s coming off of a stellar season in the 2016 CCS Florida Championship where
