JC Camacho broke onto the professional scene in 2012 as a competitor in the AMA Supersport East Championship aboard a House and Paint Designs Yamaha. The Texas native took a couple of years to adapt to the pro ranks, but he was able to show his true potential during the 2014 season as he managed to land inside the top ten on multiple occasions in
the AMA Pro Supersport class on his self-supported Camacho Racing Yamaha, most notably finishing fifth at Mid-Ohio. As the series moved under the new ruling of MotoAmerica in 2015, Camacho moved into the Superstock 600 class in which he was able to score five top ten finishes throughout the year, placing him tenth overall in the standings at the end of the season. The Texan made steady improvements throughout the off season and he came back in 2016 with some serious speed, propelling him to three podium finishes throughout the year on his way to fifth place overall in the standings. Camacho returns to the class for the 2017 season on the Altus Motorsports Suzuki team as one of the major players in the championship as he’s likely to battle at the sharp end of the field every time he lines up on the grid.
Camacho was one of a select group of Superstock 600 riders that got the invite to compete in the opening round of the Supersport series -- a unique opportunity to gain some valid race experience heading into the first round of their season at Road Atlanta. The twenty-four year old Texan impressed on home soil as he consistently put himself inside the top ten in each session, improving his lap time from Thursday to Friday by almost a full second. The #91 Suzuki rider earned eighth place on the grid in qualifying as the third fastest Superstock 600 rider. He launched into the first corner as the lights went out and he was able to maintain his position in the early stages of the race, immediately finding himself in a battle with the Yamaha of Lucas Silva. The two of them raced in close contention with one another for the majority of the race as they managed to keep the Meen Motorsports’ machine of Caroline Olsen at bay. Camacho narrowly missed out on eighth position as he was bested by the ART Performance rider, but he was able to draw some positives from the race as he finished up as the third fastest rider on a Superstock 600 machine.
