Seemingly unable to shake the bad start bug, though, Bowers began the night in 8th place across lap one of the east coast heat race. Laying down the hammer, the lanky limbs of Bowers motored forward picking up a spot on lap two, two spots on lap three and a spot on lap four to finish 4th by
the checkers, just ahead of Aaron Plessinger who stood defeated in his battle with Tyler. Having secured his position for the main to lay down the law with the fastest 250 riders we’ve seen, Bowers had a twelve laps in the reduced duration main event with the disastrous weather continuing throughout the night. With the wet clay flinging as the twenty-two fastest rider railed the first turn sweeper of Sam Boyd Stadium, Bowers came out of lap one with an impressive start in 6th. Due to the madness and insane amounts of movement going down throughout the leaderboard, Bowers had worked up to 4th by lap three and then dropped back to 7th by lap six, finding troubles in the sloppy conditions. With the weather helping separate the field instantaneously, Bowers rode 7th until lap 10, where the blitzing from behind ride of Plessinger rode by in a flash. At this point, finding himself in 8th, Bowers smelt the bluff in Craig’s late race fade and drew blood on the last lap to finish in 7th and place 5th in the final east coast rankings. It’s clear 2016 may be one to forget for Bowers, the future still seems to hold the opportunity for Bowers to establish himself like he has done in his previous Arenacross endeavors. Don’t put it past Bowers to continue the anticipation heading further into the year and into 2017.
