>> Weston Peick started the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross Season finishing fifth place in the first three rounds. Now, just two weeks after attempting to crack the earth’s crust by falling from the sky during practice in Atlanta, Weston is right back where he was. Unarguably the toughest rider in the entire sport, Weston sits sixth place in the point standings and with sixth rounds remaining could very well find himself in the top five if not the top three before the season comes to a close in Las Vegas. Weston’s not known for his blazing speed, but his toughness and determination. Qualifying eleventh this afternoon he would have his work cut out. He would ride Heat Two with four out of the five riders who are currently ahead of him in the point standings. Coming into turn number one Weston was buried, but you can’t bury that man alive. By the time they reached the finish line on lap one, he would already be up to eighth. He then spent the remainder of the race chipping his way into the top five making passes on Soubeyras, Reed, and Friese before the checkers would fly and he would cross the line in fifth. In the Main Event, Weston would make his life a little easier by starting in eighth and mak- ing quick passes on Christian Craig and Malcolm Stewart to make his way into sixth. He would then continue to press forward and take away the top five spot from Broc Tickle on lap eleven. Once reaching that top five spot Weston just couldn’t put together laps needed to catch Justin Brayton who didn’t really pull away, just held his ground. Weston rode his race calm and collected, even while dealing with Blake Baggett breathing down his neck all the way to the end. It’s great to see a guy like Weston having the season
he is having, he’s been a few years coming, but if he can stay on the track he’s on and stay healthy throughout the rest of 2018 I believe Weston will continue to impress us in 2019 and become a major threat to the shrinking list of riders who are able to top him nowadays.
