>> The 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season has gone fairly well for Rockstar Husqvarna’s Michael Mosiman. The second-year pro in his rst full season has produced solid results and has shown ashes of his true potential. At each round of the series he has been solid and ghting right around that coveted top ten spot. His best overall nish on the year was an eighth overall at Red Bud where he strung together two good motos. At our last round at Washougal, Mosiman had one of his best motos yet. He was ghting deep inside the top ve and was actually making passes up there. It was a very impressive run and he is seemingly coming
on strong with three rounds to go. Mosiman looked solid in the morning qualifying practice sessions. He was right where he usually is positioned as he threw down the eleventh fastest lap time of the class. In the second session where the track started to get muddy, Mosiman struggled to notch a heater lap but he was ready to do battle in the elements nonetheless.
At the start of moto one, an unfamiliar face ripped a massive holeshot. That unfamiliar face was Michael Mosiman. The young rider from California pulled a big holeshot and took com- mand of the lead. He actually began pulling away from the eld staying clean and roost free. He kept Dylan Ferrandis at bay for a while until it all came unraveled on lap ve. While leading, Mosiman washed out on the face of a jump resulting in him falling off to the side through the air. Luckily, it wasn’t at high speeds, so he was unharmed and was able to remount in fth. But the Cinderalla story was no more. He settled in there in fth and did his best to regain his com- posure. In the latter half of the race, Mosiman succumbed to the pressure from Chase Sexton and would fall back to sixth. He held strong there until the end and nished the moto in sixth.
It was one of his best moto nishes so something great still came out of the moto even after he crashed out of the lead. The second moto for Mosiman started completely opposite of how it did in moto one. In moto two instead of coming out of the rst turn clean ahead of the pack, he found himself careening face rst into the mud. He nearly had another holeshot but couldn’t get the angle and got tangled up forcing him to crash. He would start the race in virtually last place. He would throw down quite an impressive performance despite this. He would manage to climb all the way to thirteenth place when it was all said and done. His 6-13 moto scores earned him tenth overall. Another solid top ten result for Mosiman and some valuable experi- ence leading laps and running at the front in moto one.
