>> With the Winter Olympics in full effect, many are bundled up in coats and snow
gear, looking to watch in amazement, as the best athletes of the winter season display their talents. Flying through the air, speeding down the slopes, and riding the thin line of danger at all times, fans from behind their television sets, simply can’t fathom how they can carry such grace, through these spectacular events and conditions. Scroll through the channel guide a little further however, and you’ll come across the true “Dallas Stars” of Supercross; athletes that are defying the laws of gravity, on our home soil, rather than in the alps of South Korea. Leading the pack you ask? None other than Jeremy Martin, and his cannon of a 250 machine. Looking to launch into the stratosphere, out the ceiling of the AT&T Stadium, he would push from the referee’s cue for the beginning of practice. The red clay seemingly being molded to his boots and gear, you couldn’t tell there was a shortage of traction by his riding style. Keeping the bike just on the border of the perfect RPM, his motor would hum along as he whipped the chassis to the right over the nish line double. He’d solidi ed himself for the heat race, and was ready for the events to commence. Pushing hard for the opening lap, he knew he had to establish a solid pace early on; otherwise, the other contender’s of the division would set sail. Polishing his style with a bit of aggression and elbow grease, he looked to remain at the top of the totem pole, as the white ag would come out. Battling with teammate, Cameron McAdoo, he would then remain steady, and ready for the main event. As the clock began to tick down, his heart rate would ascend in the opposite direction. Breathing heavily as the gate would fall, he told himself repeatedly to relax within the rst few laps. Although bikes were ying all around, there wasn’t an option of cruise, or an air traf c controller in his ear; therefore he had the power of keeping the straight and narrow, within the palm of his right hand. Coming down the mechanics area straight, he eyeballed the crew chief, a laser-like effect if you will; they both knew what had to be done, and it was executed. Remaining in the front portion of the eld, he would settle in to fth, hitting each rhythm lane with precision for the entirety of the race. With Jordon Smith hot on his heels, he wouldn’t waver; he would bring home the fth place ride, knowing that there was a short week ahead.
