Open Pro Sport, where the mirage of the desert heat began to become clearer and
clearer, as a gold brick loomed in the distance. The first race of the series saw Sexton come from an 11th place start and unwilling to settle. With an arduous effort, he began to climb, gaining positions until the last lap, where he would reside in fourth. The second moto, Chase made the title run a little bit easier on himself, crossing the flagger’s stand on lap one in fourth. Leap-frogging into second by lap two, he spied the carriage of Luke Purther just in front of him, and began to push his oxen for all they had. The pressure was insurmountable, eventually crumbling the morale of Purther and allowing Sexton to take over the lead, going on to win the moto. Going into the final gate drop, Sexton was in a three-way tango between Charboneau, Michael Mosiman, and himself. The true grit of the rising star was appareant in this case, as he throve under pressure and completed the task at hand. He would finish second, beating both Tristan and Michael, taking home that coveted number one plate in the process.
250 Pro, was where the La Moille resident felt most at home, showcasing his skills against equal counterparts. The first moto, Sexton found himself digging feverishly for the gold as he was buried in tenth position after lap one. He continued to scoop away, setting the fastest lap time in the process and ending up third. Moto two saw the Honda rider really go to work, as he quickly overtook the lead from Sean Cantrell, and stretched his final margin to one of the biggest of anyone all weekend, an astonishing eight seconds. The final race of the championship appeared to be disastrous following an opening lap position of ninth place, but Sexton wasn’t willing to let that gold doubloon slip away without a fight. He rallied, miraculously gaining positions each lap, somehow taking the moto win. An encouraging finish to forecast the rest of the season, he would walk away with another championship.
