As these women in compete, in a predominantly male sport, many would think from the outside looking in, that some competitors in the field would want an asterisk. Especially, when the tracks grow dangerous, and rugged. In other sports, you tend to have a special sector, ball, ruleset, what have you, dedicated to the female population of players. Not for motocross though, as these girls hit every jump, bump, and rut, that all males do, whether they’re professional or 50cc competitors. And these women attack each section of track, with significant intent. Take for instance, riders like Jordan Jarvis, a true pioneer for the class, and willing to battle with even the toughest of competition, including names like Jazzmyn Canfield, and Tayler Allred. Looking closer, it could be found in the present-day scenario, of the 2017 Winter Olympics. Jarvis, rocketing off the line to an early lead, had Tayler Allred hot on her tail for the open-
ing segments of the moto. The Yamaha and KTM, blazing a trail of ferocious velocity, pulled from the pack very quickly. Where was Jazzmyn Canfield you ask? Although a hiccup on lap two, would push her more than 20 seconds behind the field, she would rebound on lap three, posting a laptime to rival the leaders. Meanwhile, Jarvis and Allred, would remain in that order, with all three of the aforementioned women, running in the sub 2:10 range; while everyone else in the class, was north of the 2:20 mark.
