The local boy was a favorite going into the program Saturday morning and the pressure was on for Short
to perform in his final race in front of his hometown crowd. He began the day smooth and fast but was only
able to post a time good enough for 21st fastest. When the motos began, Andrew got off to a decent start
but got together with Canard early which forced him to slip back a bit. He was running 11th by the end of
the first lap and was looking strong. On lap three, it looked like Shorty was ready to do some battle as he
caught another rider and broke into the top ten. Unfortunately the track was rough and tough in Colorado
and Andrew began to fade. By the time the checkers flew, Andrew was only able to salvage a 17th place. In
the second moto, Short got off to a characteristically great start and was sitting second place going into the
first few corners.
