Starting the morning off slowly, the jump off the gate for moto one was less than optimal for RJ as he found himself mid-pack in 16th. It was only temporary, though, as Hampshire made his way into 15th quickly, then, in the next few minutes he motored by Arnaud Tonus for 14th before disaster struck. Ten minutes into the race, RJ went down and dropped well outside the top twenty, reach-
ing 32nd before being able to make his push back towards the front. Two laps later, #31 found his way into
29th, then 28th and finally 27th by the midway point. Continuing forward, RJ was in 26th a lap later and in what seemed
like seconds, had pushed his way into 23rd. From here, the race began to slow down with the distance between riders at

its absolute max. Moving into 21st after ten minutes of straight focus, RJ used the final two laps of the race to get around
Albertson and pull away until he reached the finish line.
