A long way from the five lap sprints of area and regional qualifiers, Forkner really has taken hold of the series, and dictated his own pace, rather than fall victim and be pushed to the bottom of the totem pole. One of the most highly touted rookies in quite sometime, Forkner has remained
composed and unwavering to both internal and external pressures. With a boss such as Mitch Payton within his ear, championship contenders under the same canopy, and journalists seeking contact information at all times of the day, it can be easy to see how a young man can falter. However, both the family and friends of Forkner have seemed to create a solid support system to allow Austin to relish and maximize his full potential. With each gate drop providing further experience, Forkner should go nowhere but up as the series dwindles on throughout the heat of the summer.
