With streamers and crowds filling the sky, air horns blasting to the top of their lungs, and fans lung- ing over the metal fencing, it was time to drop the gate and begin the festivities. Davalos rounded the initial laps of the opening moto in tenth place, looking to advance. Tearoff after tearoff, the former
MTF staple would continue to hold his own amongst the chaos that surrounded him. Remaining tenth at the crossing of flags and halfway point, the moto would seem to be a solid performance, until a mistake with five minutes to go would drop him back to fifteenth. He would remain here until the final lap, and look to rebound for moto two. The spark had been lit by the match that was flicked, and Davalos surprised many with a third place start to begin the second moto. Being pushed back to fifth a few laps in, he knew the pace and heart rate he would have to withstand in order to make this race a success, was much greater than he truly wished; yet he did it anyway. Seventh with ten minutes to go, he would stay here until the checkered flag flew; enough for a twelfth overall, MD49 looks to rebound in the weeks to come.
