As the thirty-second board pushed sideways, the crowd rose to their feet, and the gate ricocheted
off mother earth. Walsh, a notoriously well-timed starter, had a little bit of trouble conquering the
never-before seen slope of the Monster Cup, and was unfortunately buried amongst the pack. With
the field separated by no more than a few seconds, it literally was a fight for every inch of terrain
on the course, and Walsh showed no signs of backing down. Although being passed a few times,
the number 53 remained steadfast, pushing until the final flag waved, he would go on to take ninth.
Back to his normal ways, the number 53 sat fourth on the opening grid of timing and scoring, setting
himself up for an optimum result by race end.
