The Monster Energy Cup is by far the biggest stage for amateur riders. Over the years this event has turned into a test for top amateur riders to prove they can handle the pressure. There is also a bit of “scouting” going on from sponsors looking for fast kids that have yet to break out. Juan Valderrama has been a solid top ten rider all year in the supermini class and would continue his consistency this year at the Monster Energy Cup. Starting race number one just outside the top ten, Juan minimized mistakes and worked his way up to 11th before the checkers flew. In race number two Juan grabbed an even better start and was hovering around the 8th place position. Not giving an inch throughout the race, the #60 KTM rider finished 8th overall with 11-8 moto scores.
