>> Weston Peick is constantly overlooked when it comes to being a title contend- er, even though he runs up front with the best of them. Even when he does get on the podium people seem to be shocked that he’s there. It is a well deserving posi- tion the JGR Suzuki rider works hard for week in and week out. Making sure this 2018 season of Monster Energy AMA Supercross he doesn’t get overlooked as someone who could hold onto the red plate, Weston Peick is charging hard on and off the track. Heading into Round Two after last weekend’s fifth place finish, Peick knows he has what it takes to be running up front during the main event. Qualify- ing eleventh for the night, there was a lot of time on the track he was going to need to make up for in order to get himself up on the podium. Going into his heat race for the night, the JGR Suzuki rider put the power to the ground off the get
go grabbing himself a decent start for the night of racing that laid ahead. Sitting
up right around fourth place off the start Peick was charging hard through each technical rhythm section the Houston Supercross track had to offer. He battled with Blake Bagget briefly for a couple laps before he eventually settled into fourth place for a few more laps. But as the race came close to its finish Justin Brayton had reeled the JGR Suzuki rider in and was fighting to make that last-minute pass on him to get that better gate pick. Peick put up a fight but was unable to hold onto his position falling back to fifth before the race was over. Moving onto the main event with a good heat race under his belt the JGR Suzuki rider was looking even more comfortable on the track then he had in qualifying. Charging hard out of the gate for the main event, Peick got a great start sitting in third place surrounded by some other heavy hitters. Keeping his power to the ground he continued to fight
to hold onto his now fourth place position even with the added pressure of Cole Seely all over his tail. Only able to keep up for another lap he eventually fell back into fifth after Seely seized an opportunity to make the pass. Peick continued to charge through the main event, making minimal mistakes until the checkered flag was waved. Finishing off round two with a fifth overall, Peick is still looking good in the fight for the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450 class title.
