The younger of the two Midwestern rivals, Sexton has ante’d up and joined the heavy hitters of the A class, although only 16. Meaning forget learning the proper way to parallel park in Driver’s Ed., and instead let’s focus on cashing paychecks.
Once again the Villopoto-Alessi vibe was placed into effect in the Open Pro Sport division, as Forkner’s 2-1 was trailed by Sexton’s 3-2. Unfortunately a mishap of ninth in the final moto would chalk up his championship hopes, but an overall bronze medal wasn’t too much of a disappointment.
The 450 A class was one in which he chose to flip his cards face up and walk away from the table, although a very impressive second place in the opening moto would boost his morale. A 14th in moto two would lead to his camp deciding it’d be best to sit out and focus on the 250 division, an intelligent choice in the end.
To many, the most stacked of the A classes, 250 A allows all young prospects to compete on somewhat equal machinery and forecast what the professional ranks may entail. So it were fitting that Sexton, Sean Cantrell, and Michael Mosiman were swapping positions for a the highly touted runner up spot throughout the week. Sexton would take the coveted second place position with an overall score of 9 and a trifecta of third place finishes (3-3-3).
