Max Miller had himself a successful week at the JS7 Freestone National managing to come out winning two titles out of five classes. In fact, it was a successful week for the entire Miller family. Max’s dad, Mike, brought home the title in Senior 45+ Sportsman class. The father and son duo got to grace the podium together after clinching their titles because their classes ran back to back, a
cool moment to see and a great moment for the family.
I’ll shift the focus back solely on Max and let you know how he secured his two titles. The Orange Brigade rider got out to very fast starts in 85 (9-13) and Mini Sr classes 1&2 by sweeping the first motos in all three classes. Max could not have asked for a better start to the week but knew he was for from being guaranteed the championships. Anything can happen in these very fast and talented 85 classes. He knew he would have to go out and execute just like he did in the first three motos if he wanted the titles.
As the gate dropped in the 85 (9-13) class, Miller would come around lap one in second place and go after race leader Jett Reynolds. The two young guns battled for a few laps until Miller could make his move stick. After he got into the lead he held it all the way to the finish to cap off the win and the championship.
When the gate dropped in the Mini Sr 2 class, Miller found himself in a similar situation as the (9-13) class. He started in second place but had to track down fellow Kawasaki rider Stilez Roberston. This proved to be a harder task because Miller was not able to make a move. He cut the lead to less than two seconds when they grabbed the white flag but made a few costly mistakes on the final lap and had to concede the championship to Stilez. Miller had to be bummed but he still had one more chance at another title.
In the final moto of the Mini Sr 1 class, Miller got out to the early lead and never looked back in a dominating moto win and 1-1 championship performance. He buckled down and used that second place in Mini Sr 2 as motivation to go out and wrap the title up. The championship in Mini Sr 1 capped off an impressive week that also saw him grab a 6th and a 7th respectively in the Supermini classes.
