It was an up and down week at Freestone for Evan Woody as he managed to take home two titles out of the four classes he participated in. Woody competed in 51cc 7-8 Limited, 51cc 4-8
Limited, 65cc 7-9 Limited and 65cc 7-9. The #304 is near the end of his 50cc career and has slowly been transition- ing to his 65. Evan started around fifth in his first 51cc 7-8 moto and got into his groove right away. Woody put his 50 to work and past the front runners and got himself into the lead with just a lap remaining. Evan also posted the fast lap of the field on lap three of four, signifying that he will be the rider to beat in moto 2. Tyler Cole lead the majority of the first race but dropped back to third on the last lap and finished 3rd. Coming for redemption Cole jumped out front early and never looked back. Evan did everything he could to get around Tyler Cole but settled for 2nd and took the title.
The battles weren’t over for Evan as he battled with Enzo Temmerman the whole first 51cc 4-8 Limited moto. Woody would fall just short of the first moto win, but with a great start in moto 2 Evan took off with another championship.
Moving up in class and cc’s is always a process and very few riders get success right away. Woody gave the 65cc classes a shot at Freestone but was unable to match his great finishes that he got on his 50. The youngster still has plenty of time to get up to speed on his 65cc and will be a title contender in that class soon enough.
