Still in third as of lap five, a mistiming error by Eli would allow Dungey to close in, showing him a wheel; but false hope would keep Dungey in third, and Tomac moving forward. Things would subside until lap eight, where the training regimen of Dungey would become
apparent, and he pushed Tomac to the berm, two corners before the finish line.
He appeared to sit comfortably in second, but a front end washout would cause Marvin Musquin to disrupt plans and inherit runner-up spot, Dungey now sitting third. Deep down a bit agitated that his fellow Baker’s factory teammate was
just in front of him, RD remained poised and kept the championship in mind, finishing third on the evening.
