>> Starts starts starts. That is what must be going through Aaron Plessinger’s head during the week. Time and time again Plessinger has put together fascinat- ing come from behind rides only to come up short because the checkered flag waves. He has been without a doubt one of the fastest riders at each race but has been utterly plagued by poor starts. One could argue he could have a win or two by now if he had just come out of the gate a little better. He knew he had only one more race to put it all together before the break so he was determined to pull a big start in front of the crowd in Arlington.
Plessinger struggled to find a rhythm in practice only qualifying eighth but he knew a good start would snap him out of it and he would be right in the thick
of the fight. Unfortunately Plessinger would not find that get that good start in his heat but he did seem to find a rhythm. He utilized the whoops to his advan- tage throughout the race making several passes in the section. His long stature helped him rocket through them and he was blowing by people like they were sitting still. He would catch up to finish third and nearly caught Jeremy Martin for second. He emerged as one the fastest guys of the day and the rest of the class had to be hoping he did not find a holeshot for the main.
The 250 class breathed a sigh of relief at the start of the main because Plessing- er was nowhere near the front of the field. He rounded the opening lap in twelfth place. Certainly frustrated, he started riding with some aggression and he made some passes in bunches. He dominated through the whoop sections yet again slicing through the field. He was the fastest rider on the track at one point but by the time he moved into third the leaders were long gone. He would have to settle with the final spot on the podium. He was bummed because he knew if had just gotten a start, he very well may have been heading into the break with a win.
