>> Martin Davolos is putting together yet another consistent season of su- percross. The veteran from Ecuador has made his presence felt at every round of the 2017 West Coast series. He’s been getting great starts for the most part and been fighting within the top five. However, the Rockstar Husqvarna rider has yet to get a win this season and he wanted to try and get one before the hiatus. After a fast third overall performance in qualify- ing practice, Davalos looked ready as ever to try and notch the win.
The usual fast starting Davalos struggled all day long with his starts. In his heat, he started buried in thirteenth place. He had some work to do to even qualify out of the heat. The veteran did not even sweat his predica- ment as he climbed forward and finished in fourth place with ease. He was onto the main event and was hungry for that win.
Davalos suffered an even worse holeshot in the main rounding lap one way back in eighteenth place. He was basically in damage control mode for the rest of the race with a start that bad. He stayed persistent and quick on his way through the field. He locked in behind Jeremy Martin, who also suffered a bad start, and the two climbed forward. Davalos would get up to seventh late in the race and could not make the move on Martin. After finishing second last week and seemingly moving in the right direction, this performance is certainly a bummer for Davalos heading into the break.
