ELI TOMAC
Eli Tomac finally got the elusive moto wins that he’s been chasing since he bowed out of last year’s series
in bombastic fashion. There were a lot of expectations on Tomac headed into the outdoor series this year after he trounced the field in the opening rounds of the 2015 season, but people seemed to forget that he was on a new bike; or that he was coming off double shoulder surgery; or that Ken Roczen is riding better than ever before with something to prove. Tomac finally did some prov- ing of his own and had a smile on his face after throwing down a convincing 1 - 1 at the series’ historic return to the Wick. Nobody has even been able to get a sniff of Roczen’s exhaust all year long except for Tomac. Were the sands of Southwick just a fluke and will the young German return to winning ways this weekend at Millville? It’s a question that Tomac has to be asking himself after he finally looked like the Eli of old, whooping Roczen by twenty-some seconds in the first moto last weekend. The second moto was
a bit of a closer battle, but Tomac even managed to get up from a small crash and pass Roczen back almost immediately. He had Roczen’s number at Southwick and he’ll be looking to ruffle his feathers yet again at Millville in order to bring the championship battle a little closer together heading into Washougal. If Tomac has any chance of winning the title, he’s going to have to start rack- ing off moto wins and luck needs to be on his side.
